Ian's Story
Ian was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate that impaired his ability to feed properly. He had 3 procedures in his first year to repair his lip, nose and palate. Ian is now 2 years old; feeding and gaining weight appropriately. His parents say that most people do not realise that Ian has had any surgery unless it is brought to their attention, and this is certainly the goal of our unit: to reconstruct and restore children with congenital or acquired facial deformities to normal functioning in our society.
